Question: What grade can my daughter register for field hockey?
Answer: The program is offered to any girl in 3rd grade as of September thru 8th grade
Question: When can I sign up?
Answer: Registration usually opens up in the middle of June and stays open through most of the summer.
Question: I am not from Southampton. Can I still sign up for your program?
Answer: If your township has a recreational program for field hockey and can provide a team for your child’s age group, then you can NOT sign up at Southampton. The program’s Commisioner & STRA board will make the ultimate decision about out of town players. Please send and email to admin to be considered.
Question: What equipment am I responsible to supply?
Answer: Shin guards, colored mouth guards, cleats, black shorts, goggles, stick.
Question: Do I need to buy a field hockey stick?
Answer: No, it is not necessary. STRA provides balls which can be used during the season.
Question: When are practices?
Answer: Practice & game schedule will be created after team selection. Practice starts mid August.
Seniors: Practice is held after the school practices. Days will vary due to school game schedule. We urge any 6, 7, & 8th grader interested in playing for STRA to participate on the school team.
Juniors: Practice is held 3 times a week, 6-7:30pm. All practices are held at the municipal building field.
Question: When are games?
Seniors: Sunday afternoons, September, October and 1st week of November
Juniors: Saturday mornings, September, October and 1st week of November
Question: How long is a game?
Answer: About one hour, consisting of two halves 20 or 25 minutes
Question: Do I have to travel?
Answer: We do play other townships and are required to do some traveling. The other townships in our league are Indian Mills, Marlton, Pemberton, Burlington & Florence
Question: What are the different divisions?
Seniors: 6, 7, & 8th graders
Juniors: 3, 4 & 5th graders
